Wash away the commercial sentimentality from Valentine’s Day with Songs of Love & Death at the Log Drive Café (Abbotsford House, 950 Bank St.). The night will feature Wychwood, a duo who self identify only half-jokingly as “the world’s first Blackgrass band.” Chrissy Steinbock and Tim Kitz both sing and play guitar, as well as fake their way through banjo, accordion, mandolin, tin whistle, and probably a few other forgotten instruments. They will bring a repertoire of traditional ballads to the Log Drive Café that touch on the twin poles of love and death – beyond the ken of your average murder ballad.
Tickets $10 at the door
