Don’t throw it away – fix it!
In today’s day and age, we are often temped to toss something that isn’t working quite right anymore. But for what? It often still has much life, and will just serve to fill a landfill and cost you more money.
The Repair Café hopes to save that waste and money, while also:
Revitalizing a culture of repairing;
Identifying repair expertise and to spread knowledge and know-how;
Promote social cohesion in Ottawa by connecting neighbours
Join us on April 8th with your items that need repairing. The event is FREE
Do YOU have any repair skills? We’re looking for people who can help with:
Clothing repair. Darning, patching, hemming, buttons, etc.
Basic wood furniture repair. Adjustments, tightening, etc.
Bicycles. Overall assessment, basic tune up and tips.
Other? Tell us what you can offer! We bet someone needs you 🙂
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and let us know what skills you can share!
OTL members have told us that they need workshop space, and well, we’ve listened.
Reserve your workbench on Saturday, April 8th, and bring that project you’ve been meaning to get started on into the Ottawa Tool Library and Makerspace North’s warehouse. Borrow the tools you need on site, without even having to drag them home! And best of all, benefit from the expertise and tips of Tool Ninjas and other Ottawa makers who will be on site to help you out.
So what will you build, refinish, repair, create, make?
Makers will share a workbench, with a max of two people per bench. Workbench space is limited and costs $5.00/hour, which must be reserved and paid for in advance via Eventbrite. You may reserve for more than one hour. Painting, staining and activities resulting in fumes are not permitted at Makerspace North.
Access to workbench space is available to Ottawa Tool Library members in good standing, and they will be asked to check in with their membership card / number upon arrival.
Membership has its benefits! 😉
