BTP x EIC COLLAB DINNER

April 18 @ 6:30 pm10:00 pm

95

East India Company Restaurants is teaming up with the team at Beyond The Pale Brewing for our inaugural fundraising event for the Algonquin College Kamal Mehra Culinary Bursary. The Bursary is aimed at supporting culinary students facing financial hardship and are in need of assistance.
Executive Chef Nitin has designed a menu focused on the intoxicating flavours & aromas of India while employing both modern and classic cooking techniques. The result is a progressive and innovative 5 course meal. Paired with each course are the inconceivably flavourful and bold beers of BTP Brewmaster Shane Clark
All proceeds from the event will go towards The Kamal Mehra Culinary Bursary at Algonquin College. Kamal Mehra founded the first North Indian restaurant in the city of Winnipeg in 1967. In 2002, with a well established reputation as the premier Indian restaurant in Manitoba, Kamal decided to expand and open the downtown Ottawa location of East India Company. Today, East India Company stands with 3 locations and is still proudly family owned and operated by his wife Sudha, daughter Divya and sons, Sachit, Anish & Nitin. Sadly, Mr. Mehra passed away in 2015 surrounded by those he loved most, his family.
As a tribute to the great life he lead, the Mehra family decided to establish a bursary in Kamal’s name, keeping his legacy of hard work, passion for quality food & service, helping those in need and community support alive and well. No stranger to hardship, Kamal moved to Canada from India and through years of dedication established one of the most distinct and recognizable brands in Winnipeg and Ottawa. This success was never taken for granted as he endeavoured to help those new to Canada and less fortunate within the community in any way he could for over 4 decades. It is with this spirit that the Kamal Mehra Culinary Bursary was conceived.
Please join us for an evening aimed to showcase the incomprable talents of Chef Nitin and Brewmaster Shane while supporting efforts to assist the future leaders of the Canadian culinary industry
