Workshop: Storytelling I—The Citizen Journalist

August 8 @ 7:00 pm8:45 pm

Apartment613 is offering another term of 613U Summer School.

These workshops aren’t only intended to equip Apt613 contributors with new skills—we hope to meet Ottawa bloggers and citizen journalists, and teach artists and community groups how to create better digital content.

There is a $10 or PWYC registration fee per workshop. However, no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Please send a note to <613U@apt613.ca> if you could use a subsidy.

Storytelling I: The Citizen Journalist

How can you find story ideas? Without going to event listings? An experienced journalist will make you notice the great stories passing by on a daily basis. The instructor will teach participants to craft a focus statement and stronger ledes; as well as pro-tips for writing spot news and issue-based stories.

  • Instructor: Paul Adams, Carleton University
  • Date/Time: Wednesday, August 8 from 7:00pm–8:45pm
  • Location: Impact Hub Ottawa (123 Slater Street, 6th Floor)
  • Register: Eventbrite

Apartment613 wishes to thank the Ontario Trillium Foundation and The Fulbright Canada-U.S. Embassy in Ottawa Community Leadership Program for their financial support of this project.
