Jennifer Carole Lewis

Book Reviewer

Jennifer Carole Lewis is a full-time mom, a full-time administrator and a full-time writer of paranormal romance, which means she is very much interested in speaking to anyone who comes up with any form of functional time-travel devices or practical cloning methods. She recently published her second novel in the lalassu series, about a secret society of superpowered individuals living among us. She is a member of the Ottawa Romance Writers’ Association and the Romance Writers of America. Without them, she would still be dreaming about being a writer rather than sharing her books with readers. She believes in both conspiracy theories and happily-ever-afters, which makes for some interesting dinner time conversations. She is a devoted comic book geek and Marvel movie enthusiast. She spends far too much of her precious free time watching TV, especially police procedural dramas. Her enthusiasm outstrips her talent in karaoke, cross-stitch and jigsaw puzzles. She is a voracious reader of a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction and always enjoys seeking out new suggestions.

Write On Ottawa: Are you afraid of the dark?

Evan May’s The King In Darkness is outside my usual genre but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It reminded me of the gritty detective sagas of Raymond Chandler, though Adam Godwinson is a decidedly less-gritty and more endearing hero. A former priest, Adam now works at a used bookstore until the children he used to guide […]

Write On Ottawa: Thrilling conclusion to Heart’s Desire series

The Forsaken Heart, the exciting conclusion of Brenda Gayle’s Heart’s Desire series, delivers everything the first two books promise: the answer to who will inherit Tres Hermanos ranch and the mystery of Callum Hart and Anna Graham’s unexpected engagement. I’d recommend rereading the first two books, The Hungry Heart and The Doubting Heart, just to […]

Harlequin Editor shares tips for authors

Jennifer Carole Lewis is a member of the Ottawa Romance Writers’ Association. Everyone who has aspired to writing a novel knows the basics of editing: don’t use the passive voice, check for spelling and grammar errors, avoid clichés, and show, don’t tell.  However, there are other pitfalls waiting to ensnare an author.  Last weekend, on […]

Write On Ottawa: Gwynneth Ever After, a Capital modern fairy tale

Linda Poitevin’s Gwynneth Ever After is a contemporary romance of renewed faith and hope. Gwyn Jacobs, a frazzled single mother of three, discovers herself sitting next to a famous movie star, Gareth Connor, as she attends a play at Cantebury Theatre in Ottawa’s West End. To her surprise, they strike up a conversation which lead […]
