Join Apt613 for the launch of 613u, a digital media toolkit that provides tips and tricks for blogging, smartphone photography, connecting with local government and more. 7:30pm at Impact Hub Ottawa (71 Bank St) on Wednesday March 29.
We know there’s a lot going on in this city. It is, in fact, why this site exists.
And we know that the interweb is a powerful tool—harness it, and you’ve got the whole world (or at least a dedicated set of interested folk) in the palm of your hand. Storytelling, event sharing and expressing opinions are all enhanced through these digital tools.
Yet how to use these tools and have the most effective voice online? Good question.
Apt613 sought to answer this question in a concrete way, both for our volunteer contributors and for the myriad local artists, musicians, not-for-profits and small businesses found across our city and beyond.
We came up with an idea: put together a digital media toolkit for all of these people, to help them tell their story.
With the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, 613u was born.
613u is an online, digital media toolkit for internetting-basics, like blogging or how to conduct interviews, and from cell phone photography to connecting with local government. It’s meant to be a resource for our Ottawa community, so that we can spread the word even further about this awesome place.
Apt613 will be organizing in-person workshops as part of 613u over the next few months, bringing together local experts in the field to provide more tips and tricks to increase your World Wide Web savviness. Stay tuned!
613u will launch at the end of the month, and we’ll be revealing the toolkit down at Impact Hub on March 29—if you’d like to check it out, you can find your invitation over here.
Admission is free with an RSVP. Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation and Fulbright Canada’s Community Leadership Program for their support of this project. 613u will be unveiled during a launch party at Impact Hub (71 Bank St) from 7:30–10:30pm on Wednesday March 29.
